KuReview – Desain merupakan salah satu aspek yang setidaknya harus kita pahami dasar-dasarnya. Karena, dalam kehidupan kita , kita selalu bertemu dengan yang namanya design. Apalagi dengan saat ini era digital dimana desagin menjadi sebuah keharusan dalam aspek visualisasi. Seperti desain situs, perangkat lunak untuk gawai, desain interior serta desain yang lainnya. Karena alasan itulah, saya memutuskan untuk belajar memahami pondasi pondasi di dalam desain. 
Untuk itu, saya juga akan membagikan kepada teman-teman mengenai catatan-catatan saya ketika saya mendengarkan Design Foundation with Mat Helme. Selamat membaca catatan saya ini ya. Bila ada yang ingin ditanyakan silahkan komentar.

Format Line

Line is a start from single node to other node.
Thickness = Weight
Distance from start to stop = Length
There are 4 Line :
  1. Organic
  2. Metrickal
  3. Roof
  4. Ajacktil Line

Size and Texture

Size : Quality of the primary visual element line and shape. All Element have a definition of size , which its  measurable form
Size and Scale play a huge  role in design
Texture : The quality of feel  , appearance or consistency  of an object or objects
Implied = Touch, Visual = Motif

Color

Is the way  light reflect off an object.
Can define a shape , portray emotion or emphasize  an object.
Is measured by hue, saturation and value.
Naming a color  by description is its hue.
Red, Blue , Green
Color sensations  are used to  categorize hues
Warm and Cold Color
When  a group of colors are the same hue,tint tone and shade
Monochromatic means of same color, or one color
Tint is a mixture  of color with white
A shade is a mixture of color with black
Tone is a mixture of color with gray
Primary Color : Red , Yellow and Blue
Complemenary Colors : ….the color that are directly opposite of each other
Triad Colors Combination : are 3 colors of equal distance
Saturation refers to intensity, strength and chroma
Achromatic : colors that have no saturation
Simultaneous Contrast :

Composition

Is the placement or arrangement of visual elements or ingredient in a layout
Structure :
  • Positive shapes
  • Vice Versa
  • Equal  inverse

Composition Techniques

  1. Rule of Third : A way to cut the composition up into nine different sections and use the opposing sections to balance one another or to highlight a specific element
  2. Rule of Odds : an odd number of object is more pleasing to the eye than an even number
  3. Rule of Space : Creating movement  in an composition

Space Grouping

In a two dimensional design creates a third dimension
Ambiguous space : when two  or more possible meanings
Impossible Space : when spaces just don’t make sense
Atmospheric perspective : creating  depth through space , making it small object darker or bluring
Liniear Perspective : make line, each side has vanishing point
3 Dimensional : create object that appears to have  weight to it, by sampling adding shading to the circle make it appear to be a 3 dimensional
White Space : refers to the comparison of elements within composition
Grouping : connection / unity two object . 
Gestalt Principles : 
  • Touching
  • Overlaping
  • Transparency
  • Union
  • Subtraction
  • Intersection

Contrast and Balance

Balance : The Equal distribution of weight within a composition
Symmetrical Balance : whan a layout appears mirrored
Radial Balance : an organized repeating pattern within a composition

Emphasis, Movement and Unity

Emphasis : applying intentional focus on one or more object, thought: Size, Color and Shape
Implement Movement : sequential,repeating images, bluring or motion indicators to apply movement.
Unity : joining two or more elements being joined as a whole

Critique

A method to analyze something
Process Problem Solving
Psychology : Explenation of why we do what we do
Cognition : Our mental process or the order in which we think. Problem solving is a form of cognition

The 4 P’s problem solving :

  1. Prep : Preparation. Identify problems.
  2. Plan 
  3. Perform
  4. Perfect
